Features ยท Daily Root

A daily puzzle for Arabic root words

Arabic builds families of words from three-letter roots. Each day brings one root and five clues: build each word from letter tiles, Wordle style, and share your result.

The Daily Root puzzle: the root ูƒ ุช ุจ, five English clues, and a first try marked in green and grey

One root, a family of words

ูƒ ุช ุจ is to do with writing: ูƒุงุชุจ (writer), ูƒุชุงุจ (book), ู…ูƒุชุจ (office), ู…ูƒุชุจุฉ (library). Learn the root and the patterns, and you can guess new words before you look them up.

Wordle-style hints

After each try, green means right letter in the right place and yellow means the letter belongs somewhere else. Three tries per word.

Same puzzle for everyone

A new root every day at midnight UTC, the same for every player, so your squares are worth comparing.

Common questions

What are Arabic root words?

Most Arabic words come from a root of three consonants that carries a core meaning. Patterns of vowels and extra letters turn the root into specific words: a doer, a place, a thing, an action.

Do roots work in the dialects too?

Yes. The puzzle uses Modern Standard Arabic, but the same roots run through Egyptian, Levantine and Darija, often with the same patterns.

Is Daily Root free?

Yes, for everyone, every day. Signed-in players also earn XP for each word.

Try it in your dialect

Egyptian, Levantine, Moroccan Darija or Modern Standard Arabic. Free to start, no card needed.
